Goals

The overall Goals of the Bullying Prevention Institute’s two-day summit are as follows:

  • Provide in-depth continuing education for professionals working to eliminate bullying in Pennsylvania schools.
  • Lay out a basic blueprint and comprehensive framework for adoption by schools that are just beginning a bullying prevention effort.
  • Offer an opportunity for schools to network and to investigate strategies and best practices currently in use in schools and communities.
  • Convene a teen forum to educate and support students who want to act as advocates for change and a bully-free climate for their schools.
  • Showcase resources that enhance bullying prevention efforts now available to schools.

Almost a third of American children in grades six through ten are directly involved in serious, frequent bullying.

More than two thirds of students believe that schools respond poorly to bullying, with a high percentage of students believing that adult help is infrequent and ineffective.
